How does Laser Vein Removal work?

The Syneron-Candela GentleMax Pro Laser targets the vein with energy pulses leaving the surrounding area untouched. The hemoglobin inside the vein absorbs the energy and causes the blood to vaporise and the vein simply collapses. The treated blood vessels will in time disappear naturally as the body dissolves the vein fragments away. Vascular skin concerns such as facial veins commonly referred to as spider veins, thread veins and broken capillaries are often a result of your genetics, sun exposure and other factors such as rosacea.

What does the treatment involve?

During the laser vein removal procedure, the laser, which emits light of a particular wavelength or colour, is directed into the skin to target visible veins (blood vessels). It passes harmlessly through the top layer of epidermis of the skin. The blood vessels absorb the light, which results in heating and destruction of the vein by a process known as thermocoagulation.
The dispersed blood cells, in the form of a bruise, are then carried away by the body’s collecting cells, leaving behind normal skin.

What results can I expect?

Over 2-4 weeks post Laser Vein Removal treatment, veins will fade. Each individual case is different and results depend on a variety of factors. Thread veins / spider veins treated do not reappear however new vessels may show up on the surface which can be then treated. However, conditions such as Rosacea can cause new veins to appear at some point in the future making further treatment necessary.

How long does the treatment take

Laser Vein Removal treatment takes approximately 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the area.

What is the recovery period?

The majority of clients can return to work and normal daily activities on the same day. Generally, we recommend having some time off after treatment to cool the area. Depending on the size and extent of areas being treated recovery may vary to a few hours to a few days. Veins can appear darker after treatment before the fade over a few days. Following treatment, it is advised to cool the treated area(s) at regular intervals with ice packs.
